Mini – Backpack

Hello, I wanted to remind you that once you have finished the backpack, you are free to sell it retail without intermediaries. What is NOT allowed is reselling this pattern, transcribing it, distributing it, copying it, or sharing it. The purpose of this pattern is for you to crochet this backpack I designed.

MATERIALS:

Yarn: T-SHIRT YARN

Color: 082

Amount of yarn balls: 7

Crochet hook: 5.00mm

Stitch markers: 1

Tapestry needle

It is optional to add the rings.

ABBREVIATIONS:

Ch: chains

sl st: slip stitch

pbc: punto bajo centrado

sc: single crochet

hdc: half double crochet

dc: double crochet

inc: increase (2 sc in the next sc)

dec: decrease (insert hook through 2 front loops together)

BASE

Ch: 10

Crochet 22 rows of single crochet stitches (sc).

Crochet single crochet stitches (sc) around the rectangle.

1 increase (inc) – 20 single crochet stitches (sc).

Increase of 3 – 20 single crochet stitches (sc) – crochet 1 single crochet, then another single crochet (sc) in the same stitch, but do not close it as usual. Instead, take the back loop of the next stitch.

Crochet around the rectangle, taking only the front loop of the chains that were formed around the rectangle. When you reach the end, close with a slip stitch.

 

HEIGHT

Rnd 1: Make a chain and crochet single crochet stitches (sc) in every stitch around (taking both loops).

Rnd 21: Finish the last round with a slip stitch.

 

Twisted cord

With a long strip of t-shirt yarn, roll it as much as you can. Finally, fold it in half without letting go of the ends. Only release the opposite side where the t-shirt yarn strip is joined, and it will twist on its own.

 

Now, you will position this twisted cord onto the bag like this:

 

FLAP

Ch: 10

Skip 1 stitch, and in the next stitch, crochet single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 1: Crochet 8 single crochet stitches (sc), then in the next stitch, crochet 3 single crochet stitches (sc) in the same stitch. Continue crocheting 8 single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 2: Make 1 chain, crochet 8 single crochet stitches (sc), then make 3 increases (inc) in the next 3 single crochet stitches, and continue crocheting 8 single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 3: Make 1 chain, crochet 8 single crochet stitches (sc), then crochet 1 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 1 sc – 1 increase (inc), 1 sc – 1 increase (inc), and continue crocheting 8 single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 4: Make 1 chain, crochet 8 single crochet stitches (sc), then crochet 1 increase (inc) – 2 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 2 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 2 sc, and continue crocheting 8 single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 5: Make 1 chain, crochet 8 single crochet stitches (sc), then crochet 1 increase (inc) – 3 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 3 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 3 sc, and continue crocheting 8 single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 6: Make 1 chain, crochet 8 single crochet stitches (sc), then crochet 1 increase (inc) – 4 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 4 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 4 sc, and continue crocheting 8 single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 7: Make 1 chain, crochet 8 single crochet stitches (sc), then crochet 1 increase (inc) – 5 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 5 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 5 sc, and continue crocheting 8 single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 8: Make 1 chain, crochet 8 single crochet stitches (sc), then crochet 1 increase (inc) – 6 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 6 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 6 sc, and continue crocheting 8 single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 9: Make 1 chain, crochet 8 single crochet stitches (sc), then crochet 1 increase (inc) – 7 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 7 sc – 1 increase (inc) – 7 sc, and continue crocheting 8 single crochet stitches (sc).

Row 10: Crochet 43 single crochet stitches (sc).

 

This flap will be sewn or crocheted to the bag in this way:

 

Short handle

Ch: 15

Skip 1 single crochet stitch (sc) and then crochet single crochet stitches (sc) in the following stitches.

3 rows of single crochet stitches (sc).

 

Long handle

Ch: 3

  • We will crochet as follows: insert the hook into the second stitch, and without closing it, insert the hook into the third stitch. Now, close the stitch completely.

 

  • Then, we will insert the hook into the longer strand that slides more easily and repeat the same procedure: insert the hook into the second stitch, and without closing it, insert the hook into the third stitch. Now, close the stitch completely.

 

  • You will repeat this until you reach a length of 1.50 meters.
