How to Attach Magnet Brooches to Your Bags, Wallets, and Fabrics

Magnet brooches are a great choice for closing bags, purses, and other accessories. They are easy to use, practical and provide a secure closure, as well as having a modern and elegant look. If you are a fan of DIY (Do It Yourself) and want to give a personalized touch to your projects, we tell you how you can place magnet brooches in a simple and effective way.

Materials You’ll Need

Before you begin, make sure you have these materials on hand:

  • Magnet brooches (available at craft stores or haberdasheries).
  • Crochet: No. 2.50mm
  • Needle and thread, clear nylon (or sewing machine, depending on your preferences).
  • Cotton Yarn: Thickness 1mm
  • Silicone gun: to be able to fix the fabric with the clasp to the project you made.
  • Scissors.
  • Fabric or pencil marker (optional, to mark where to place the clasp).
  • Tape measure (optional, to measure and make sure everything is aligned).
  • Tweezers (optional, to hold the brooch while sewing it).

Tips & Recommendations

  • Make sure you choose a good quality magnet clasp to prevent it from deactivating over time or losing closing strength.
  • Use a thick needle if you’re working with thick materials, such as leather or upholstery fabrics.
  • If you don’t want to sew, you can also find a good silion to glue the magnet snaps, which do not require sewing, just press and let dry well.
  • Check the strength of the magnet before you start the project to make sure the clasp will be strong enough for your needs.
